'King Of All Wild Things'

After my previous post I sent my image over to Cory Godbey at Terrible Yellow Eyes and he really liked it, He liked a piece on my blog and asked me if I could do one in a similar style, so this is what I came up with.

A big thanks to Cory for taking the time to look at my work and get back to me, and for giving me such a nice write up.

Swing Monsters From Mars 1930's Title Card

After posting the character designs from the swing monsters, I watched a few 1930's cartoons on youtube and decided to do a cartoon title card and came up with this, Went for a distressed slighty out of focus feel of old film.

I've decided that Im going to try the characters into paper toys after being inspired by the awesome Custom Paper toys....

I was inspired by the Silly Symphonies cartoons from the 30's....

Swing Monsters From Mars Vinyl Toys

Heres some work from a while back when I pitched this idea to Crazy Label for a possible range of vinyl toys, It never quite worked out but It was fun designing them.

I based them around my love for music of the 30's 40's and 50's.

Heres a taster.....

Hopefully you should know who it is but I put his name in it just incase, I chose to illustrate him from when they first started out, mop tops and rock and roll.

Zombie Race Driver From The Crypt

Heres my entry for the Digital Artist Awards '09, The original is A3 size so I might do a run of really slick prints of it. I looked at a lot of old B movie posters from the 50’s, I love how ridiculous all the film ideas are, the films are always about teen tear a ways who drag race hot rods or aliens and creatures from far off galaxies landing on earth and terrorising humans, So I decided to a combination of these and do a zombie race driver from the crypt. I wanted to emulate the feel of an old poster or piece of film so I used a lot of saturated colours and dust and scratches in the image.

...

Been really enjoying doing a lot of abstract drawings recently.

T.Rex, Electric Warrior - Beck's Music Inspired Art - The 100 Cover Project

T.Rex are awesome, their brand of sleazy boogie rock never ceases to bring a smile to my face and make my head nod. So when I saw it on the list of the 100 covers I had to pounce on it. The tracks 'Jeepster' , 'Bang A Gong' and 'Life's A Gas' are proper barn stormers.

For my version I chose to use the image of Pegasus which I used as a reference to front man Mark Bolan. The fact that Bolan died so young almost makes him a mystery much like the existence of the Pegasus, both only now exist in images and video. The image of the key was mainly about my experience of listening to T.Rex as it is amazing music to accompany driving and also a nod to electricity as it is a means of switching something on.

Hopefully I’ve done the album justice.

Enjoy & get your lugholes round this....

Esting

This week I have been mostly doing an esting for the competition for the entertainment channel E4. Heres some screen caps from the 10 second animation and a graphic ro accompany it. The animation was done entirely in Photoshop, it started out as an experiment and actually turned out quite well considering there isnt any huge movements or actions in it. Going to spend some time just tweaking it and trying to find some sound effects to whack on it.

Nickelodeon Open Pitchs - Get That Cat

Recently I sent Nickelodeon an idea for a pilot as part of thier Open Pitch Scheme. My idea was called 'Get That Cat' and was based around the idea of a kid trying to capture his retarded cat who always unintentionaly ruins his day, Unfortunately they thought my idea was too young for their 10 / 11 year old audience and also the idea was a bit similar to an idea called 'Kid Vs Cat' which is airing on Disney at the moment. But they really liked my artwork and the head of developemnt said that she was a fan of my style and artwork so thats all good.

Appleeggcarrot

A few little illustrations all framed up for my mum for her birthday, she asked me for some foody type illustrations that she could whack up on her wall in her kitchen.
